MIBA Monthly Meetup Discussion Guidelines:

To make the most of these discussions and ensure a positive learning and sharing experience for everyone, it is important to follow a set of clear expectations. The following guidelines will help everyone communicate effectively, contribute meaningfully, and engage respectfully:

  1. Be Respectful and Courteous –

    1. Treat all participants with kindness.

    2. Avoid interruptions, sarcasm, personal attacks, or inflammatory language.

    3. Respect the privacy of your colleagues and what they share.

    4. Allow everyone the opportunity to speak.

  2. Stay On Topic – Keep what you share out loud and in the chat relevant to the topic.

  3. Be Concise and Clear –

    1. Avoid jargon not everyone will understand.

    2. Be open to feedback and clarifying questions.

  4. Be Thoughtful and Constructive –

    1. Conflict can be generative! Offer helpful feedback and respectful disagreement.

    2. Ask for clarification if you find something offensive or difficult to understand.

      1. Be curious, don’t assume you know others’ thinking or motivations.

    3. Criticize ideas, not individuals or groups of people.

  5. Keep It Professional – Avoid overly personal stories or off-topic anecdotes unless they directly support your point.

  6. Respect Privacy – Do not share sensitive information, yours or others’.
  7. Cite Sources – If you use ideas or quotes from external sources, give proper credit and share them directly in the chat or later in Discord if need be.
